What’s On

Here is a brief outline of our regular events and groups:

Following recent guidance we regret to announce that all groups and services are now suspended until further notice. We are still available via phone and email if you wish to get in touch and will of course let you know as soon as we are able to resume. If you need help; medicine or food collected – please get in touch and we will endeavour to help. In the meantime we are looking to provide a ‘thought for the day’ and other ways of keeping the church community connected in these days of uncertainty.

‘Sing your Heart Out’ – continues to meet every Monday from 2pm until 3pm. It is an informal meeting during which we sing songs and hymns that are old favourites before enjoying a well earned cup of tea or coffee and, of course, biscuits! There’s great company, lots of laughter and support available to anyone who might need it.

Baby Group – every Tuesday from 9.30 – 11.30am during school term-time. A group for parents, grandparents, carers and their babies (0-3) to come and play, sing nursery rhymes, enjoy a snack, relax and talk! Each session is £2 per child.

Prayer Meeting every Tuesday held at Ty Newydd House, Pontnewydd from 7pm – 8pm. An opportunity to pray for our community, the world, what we read about in the media, our colleagues and friends, worries, and things we are thankful for. Everyone is welcome and you can pray in any style which suits you – whether it is a silent prayer in your head, or aloud. You are welcome to share what is on your heart with this small group. Everyone is passionate about seeing God at work in our world and want to see hearts and lives impacted by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Coffee Morning – every Wednesday 10am-12noon in Chapel house. Come and enjoy freshly brewed coffee, tea on tap, biscuits and other treats in a friendly, safe space. Drop in to say hello and stay for 10 minutes or settle in and stay all morning. Please come along and share in some company and chat.

Ladies Fellowship – Wednesday afternoons 2 – 3.30pm. With great speakers, ladies fellowship is an opportunity to sit back, learn something new and make new friends. Afternoon Teas feature strongly in the programme of events and it’s always an enjoyable way to spend a Wednesday! For the latest programme of events please do get in touch and feel free to pop along when you’re free.

Sunday Services – every Sunday at 11am and at 6pm we join together to praise God. We read from the Bible, pray for our world and seek God’s guidance for our lives. J.A.M – our children’s group – runs every week for children of all ages during the service. Everyone is welcome!

Cwtches Cwtches is an informal Parent group for bereaved parents to support each other with love. Losing a child is facing our worst nightmare and living through it. But our children are precious throughout eternity; we lived with them and continue to know their presence every day of our lives. In this sense, we are never separated from each other. So, sharing this experience is good for us. Cwtches is not counselling but is a support group – organised by those who have lost a child to share mutual support with you who have lost your precious child. This groups offers the chance to talk, share pictures, and to listen to each other in truth and openness, without judgement or weariness of endless cycles of the stories of love we have known and still know.
This meeting is held in a safe space in the living room of Chapel House once a month on a Thursday afternoon. If you think this might be helpful to you, come along and try it out.

Community Litter Pick – Once a month, we hope to brighten and bless Pontnewydd through our litter picking session. We meet at Richmond Road Church at 10am and litter pick along Richmond Road, into the village and occasionally head down into the park off Brookfields Terrace. We would encourage those who would like to be involved to wear suitable clothes and shoes. We provide hi-viz jackets, protective gloves, black bin bags and litter pickers (so bending should be minimal). We return to the church for a hot cup of tea / coffee and a biscuit at 11am to share any experiences. Everyone is welcome to get involved: register your interest with Dave Tingey (tingeydavec@aol.com).
